Maryland is looking to replace Tayon Fleet-Davis at the running back position heading into the 2022 season and Roman Hemby might be the answer. The redshirt freshman showed off his impressive wheels in Saturday’s spring game.

Early in the first quarter in College Park, Hemby turned a sweep into a 44-yard touchdown run, eluding a few defenders before racing to the end zone for a touchdown.

It was an impressive run for a back who saw limited action during the 2021 season at Maryland. Below is the highlight.

Hemby appeared in 3 games for the Terrapins during the 2021 season. He totaled 17 carries for 71 yards and 2 touchdowns during a 7-6 campaign for Maryland.

Fleet-Davis was the primary ball-carrier for Maryland last fall, totaling 721 yards and 8 touchdowns on 128 carries. The running back situation might be by committee for Mike Locksley’s offense, but Hemby looks like he could be a legitimate option out of the backfield this fall.
