Good news has come out of College Park in back-to-back weeks as it relates to COVID-19 testing.

On Tuesday, Emily Giambalvo of The Washington Post reported that Maryland had updated the results of its latest round of COVID-19 screenings. There were 227 student-athletes and staff members who were tested and there were no positive cases.

This marks the second-straight week in which no positive tests have been reported on Maryland’s campus among student-athletes and staff. Last week, the athletic department tested 192 individuals and also had no positive cases.

In total, Maryland has administered 964 tests and 12 have come back positive.

Last month, Maryland was forced to shut down voluntary football workouts following a spike in positive tests. However, after that bump in positive tests, it appears the athletic department has done a good job of slowing the spread and keeping positive tests low.
