Maryland guard Darryl Morsell has entered his name into the transfer portal. He made his announcement with a post on Twitter on Monday. In addition, the B1G Defensive Player of the Year is declaring for the NBA Draft.

Morsell released a statement on his decision with a post on social media. He will have the option to test the NBA Draft waters before making a final decision on whether or not to return to college. Morsell will have the opportunity to then transfer to another program.

Morsell is a two-time All-B1G selection and won the B1G Defensive Player of the Year honor and was also named to the B1G All-Defensive Team. This past year, the guard appeared in 30 games and averaged 9 points, 4 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest.

The Terrapins reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Morsell spent four seasons at Maryland. During his time, he posted career averages of 8.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. It will be a huge loss for Mark Turgeon’s team.
