The University of Maryland is expected to hold a press conference on Friday afternoon to reveal the findings of the investigation into the death of football player Jordan McNair.

Nicole Auerbach of The Athletic first reported the news a week ago, and CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd confirmed on Wednesday.

McNair died after an organized team workout in May. He collapsed after conditioning drills and was rushed to the hospital. He passed away a week later from heatstroke.

An independent investigative team has been looking into the situation and whether protocol was followed during McNair’s death.

McNair’s death also sparked a report from ESPN detailing a “toxic culture” surrounding Maryland’s football program. Head coach D.J. Durkin and other staff members have been placed on administrative leave.

The school parted ways with strength and conditioning coach Rick Court after the report. Durkin remains on administrative leave. Offensive coordinator Matt Canada has served as interim head coach for the Terrapins.

Findings from the investigation are expected to be made public following the press conference.
