Maryland WR Dontay Demus carted off after suffering gruesome leg injury
Maryland wide receiver Dontay Demus had to be carted off the field on Friday night after suffering a gruesome leg injury on a kickoff return.
On a kickoff return, Demus was hit quickly by Iowa’s coverage team. In an attempt to break a tackle, the Maryland receiver’s leg twisted in an ugly fashion. The result was Demus being carted off the field in the 2nd quarter.
Below is a clip of the injury sustained to Demus. Those with weak stomachs may want to turn away:

In addition to the injury sustained by Demus, the play was ruled a fumble and Iowa recovered. The Hawkeyes were able to score a touchdown and increase their lead to 17-7.
As Demus was being carted off the field, he was continually shouting to his teammates, “I’m coming back.” After that injury, it’s hard to imagine the receiver will return to the field anytime soon.
Demus caught 4 passes for 61 yards in the short time he was on the field Friday night.
Demus is Maryland’s leading receiver this season, totaling 446 yards and 3 touchdowns on 24 catches.
