WIth a jam-packed Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium on Saturday, the Maryland offense led by Taulia Tagovailoa topped visiting West Virginia 30-24 to successfully avenge a 2015, 45-6 road loss to the Mountaineers.

All eyes have been on Tagovailoa to see if he could duplicate some of his standout performances from 2020, and he didn’t disappoint. Combining with the team’s star wideouts Dontay Demus Jr. and Rakim Jarrett to put on a show.

Demus Jr. and Jarrett combined for 12 catches and 255 yards over the course of the game, and had the best days out of any Big Ten wide receivers. The pair now sit at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots for receiving yards in the conference, respectively.

Each of them had huge touchdown plays, with each score coming on a long ball from Tagovailoa.

Tagovailoa completed over 72% of his passes, throwing for 332 yards and three touchdowns. He displayed poise and confidence throughout the game while dealing with a West Virginia defense that was one of the best in the Big 12 last year.

The Terps are home again this weekend when they host Howard on Saturday, Sept. 11 with a 6:30 PM kickoff.
