Maryland’s long touchdown couldn’t have come at a funnier time.

ESPN’s broadcast was interviewing new Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry during the Pinstripe Bowl and right as the interview started, Maryland scored.

Pry didn’t react at first but even the broadcast knew right away that this was an awkward moment.

This pass also ended up being the longest touchdown pass in Maryland bowl history.

Virginia Tech hired Pry as its head coach on Nov. 30 after the school let go of Justin Fuente a couple of weeks before that.

The season had spiraled out of control and Athletic Director Whit Babcock had seen enough after six years.

Both VT and Maryland come into the Pinstripe Bowl at 6-6 and so far, it’s been the latter who’s had the better start.

The Terps are currently up 24-10 at halftime as quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa had 192 yards passing and one touchdown while only missing one throw.
