All we know for sure is that this over-under is a very intriguing offer for Maryland’s trip to Temple.

By now, everyone is well aware of Maryland’s hot start to the season under Mike Locksley. After rolling Howard 79-0 in Week 1, the Terrapins steamrolled and upset No. 21 Syracuse by scoring 63 more points in Week 2. That gives Maryland an eye-popping 71 points per game through two weeks.

Heading into Week 3 and a trip to Temple, the betting numbers for Maryland are interesting, to say the least. According to a graphic put out by FOX College Football, the over-under for Maryland’s point total has been set at 35.5. For clarification, that is just the expected output of the Terrapins and not the over-under for the combined final score.

While it seems logical to expect Maryland to come back down to earth a bit at some point, expecting the Terrapins to do so against Temple seems like an odd choice. The Owls are in their first year under a new head coach after allowing 27.1 points per game in 2018. Temple has played just one game so far this season, a 56-12 win over Bucknell.

Of course, the people that set these lines are usually well aware of what they are doing. Maybe going on the road and coming off an upset of a top-25 team leaves the Terrapins vulnerable to a letdown. Still, it seems odd to expect Maryland to score the under after the first two weeks of the season.
