Maryland’s 2021 season was filled with ups and downs. It ended on a high note Saturday in Piscataway, pummeling Rutgers to get the all-important sixth win and secure bowl eligibility.
It’s the first time the Terrapins have gone bowling since 2016. It’s also the first time Mike Locksley has made a trip to the postseason as a head coach.
The Terrapins cruised to a 40-16 win over Rutgers to improve to 6-6 on the season. After the victory, Locksley got the Gatorade bath from his players to celebrate the achievement:

Maryland started the season off hot, opening with a 4-0 record. When the competition got a little more difficult, the Terrapins had some trouble finding wins. But Locksley’s squad found ways to get wins over Indiana and Rutgers down the stretch to secure a bowl berth.
Now, the Terrapins await their bowl designation. It’s a great feeling as the team heads back to College Park.
