Mike Locksley talks Maryland's 'piss-poor' execution and more following blowout loss to Ohio State
Maryland’s hot 4-0 start to the season has come to a screeching halt with tough matchups against Iowa and Ohio State in back-to-back wins.
This week, it was a visit from the Buckeyes that went south quickly. Ohio State rolled to a 66-point output on the arm of quarterback C.J. Stroud with the Buckeyes rolling big.

Maryland has now given up 117 points in the past two games while scoring just 31. After the game, head coach Mike Locksley met with the media to discuss what he’s seen.
Locksley admitted that he likes what he saw from the Terrapins in terms of their effort, but the execution was simply not there. Additionally, he admitted Maryland has a long way to go before the program is ready to compete with the Iowa’s and the Ohio State’s of the college football world.
Here’s a look at everything Locksley had to say following Week 6:
Mike Locksley: "I thought our effort was there today — the execution was piss-poor."

"We're playing through some injuries, which to me, are part of the game… We're not going to sit here and make excuses." -Locksley

“They (Ohio State) did a good job with their tight ends and running backs keeping us out. It was hard to get to the quarterback after the ball was being released so quickly today,” Locksley on one sack against Ohio State after being tied in the league.

“Initially it didn’t look good. Until we get him checked and pictured with an MRI we won’t know.”
“He made the next step in his football career, so I feel for him,” Locksley on Jeshuan Jones injury.
Jones was carted off in the first quarter.

“He played a really strong game for three quarters but he made some bad decisions in the fourth. The last pick-six he should’ve handed the ball off instead of throwing and he knows that,” Locksley on quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa.

“Our coverage was poor today. We started playing cover two late which took away their deep ball, but gave room to their running game,” Locksley on defending Ohio State receivers.
