Maryland got back in the win column with a strong showing against Rutgers, but an injury to starting quarterback Josh Jackson dampened the mood afterward.

Jackson was effective, going 9-for-16 passing for 179 yards and 2 TDs. Unfortunately, he was removed from the game due to an ankle injury.

The good news is that current backup Tyrrell Pigrome has experience and played well after replacing Jackson. Pigrome completed 13-of-18 passes for 111 yards and also added 22 yards rushing against the Scarlet Knights. Still, getting Jackson back healthy remains important.

After the win, head coach Mike Locksley updated the injury news on Jackson. Locksley indicated Jackson sustained a high-ankle sprain in the win, but it was good he did not sustain anything further.

The Testudo Times shared Locksley’s report:

Hopefully, Jackson returns quickly. The Terrapins move on to play Purdue next weekend.
