Former Maryland big man Jalen Smith is preparing for next week’s NBA draft.

Experts are somewhat split on Smith, who is coming off an excellent sophomore season with the Terps.

Smith averaged 15.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while showing off the ability to shoot the long ball as well. Smith made 36.8 percent of his 3-point attempts last year on a volume of nearly three shots per game.

He’s also a career 70.8 percent free throw shooter, which bodes well for him becoming a league-average shooter at the NBA level.

Here’s where five NBA mock drafts have Smith landing:

The Ringer (Kevin O’Connor): No. 13 overall to the New Orleans Pelicans

The Athletic (Sam Vecenie): No. 17 overall to the Minnesota Timberwolves

Chad Ford: No. 17 overall to the Minnesota Timberwolves

ESPN (Jonathan Givony, Mike Schmitz and Kevin Pelton): No. 13 overall to the New Orleans Pelicans

CBS Sports (Gary Parrish): No. 19 overall to the Brooklyn Nets

The 2020 NBA Draft is on Wednesday, Nov. 18.
