Maryland running back Roman Hemby just scored the longest touchdown rush of his career against Indiana. The junior running back scampered 75 yards to tie things up in Bloomington, 21-21.

But it’s perfectly fair to say he had a bit of help from the officials, and not in the way you think. Right as Hemby broke through the offensive line, an official appeared to accidentally block an Indiana defender who very likely would have made a touchdown-saving tackle.

You be the judge:

Now, every football fan knows the officials are part of the playing field. In reality, this is just a terrible instance of wrong place at the wrong time, but it’s not hard to understand why some Indiana fans are a little annoyed by this development.

Officials throwing blocks absolutely fits for this game, which has gone completely off the rails since returning from halftime.  The Terrapins and Hoosiers scored 4 touchdowns in the 3rd quarter after finding the end zone 3 times across the first and second quarters.

Maryland made life difficult for Indiana QB Kurtis Rourke in the early going, picking him off twice before Rourke finally settled in. Since throwing his second interception Rourke has thrown for 279 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

We’re setting up for a strong ending in Bloomington, folks.
