That included Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh, who started his Thursday availability with the media to send his condolences to the McNair family.

“Before we go into questions, I just want to express, for Jordan McNair and his family, our condolences and our prayers,” Harbaugh said. “I heard a little about it this morning…I have no idea why these things happen. I hope we learn to understand them better for our sport, and all sports, especially the ones that play in the heat.

“From everything that I’ve been told, just a wonderful young man with a great family. Our hearts go out to them.”
