Mark Turgeon has reportedly found a new assistant to fill a vacancy on his staff.

Per 247Sports, Maryland is planning to hire South Carolina assistant coach Bruce Shingler to fulfill the opening. He has spent the past five seasons working under Frank Martin with the Gamecocks.

Shingler will fill the void left by Bino Ranson, who left College Park to take a job at DePaul. He was a member of the South Carolina staff in 2016-17 that made a run to the Final Four during the NCAA Tournament.

Before his stop at South Carolina, Shingler spent four seasons at Towson.

Maryland is coming off a season in which it finished 17-14 on the year and 9-11 in B1G play. The Terrapins reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament, defeating UConn before falling to Alabama.

The Terps are expected to be one of the B1G’s top teams during the 2021-22 season.
