Three Maryland players walked out of a team meeting with head coach DJ Durkin on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg and The Athletic’s Nicole Auerbach are reporting that three players walked out of a team meeting led by Durkin on Tuesday. The report comes just a few hours after the University System Board of Regents recommended that the head coach be reinstated in his position.

Durkin had been on administrative leave since August 11 while an independent committee investigated a “toxic culture” that was alleged inside the Maryland football program.

Durkin has not been around the team since being placed on administrative leave and has not coached in a single game this season. Offensive coordinator Matt Canada has been the head coach on an interim basis.

The Terrapins are 5-3 under Canada.

The names of the players that walked out were unavailable at the time of the report.
