Report: Maryland star WR planning to return for 2022 campaign following season-ending injury
Maryland’s wide receiver room appears to be getting a huge boost heading into the 2022 season.
Thursday evening, Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports reported that Terrapins star receiver Dontay Demus Jr. is planning to return for the upcoming season. His 2021 campaign was cut short because of a season-ending injury suffered in Maryland’s loss to Iowa early in the year.

Demus has been considered one of the better wide receiver prospects in the 2022 draft class. It sounds like he wants one more run in College Park before leaping to the next level, though.
Maryland senior wide receiver Dontay Demus, who was emerging as a potential top three round draft pick prior to suffering a season-ending knee injury in October, is currently expected to return to Maryland for another season instead of leaving for the NFL, sources tell @on3sports

Demus played in just 5 games during the 2021 season. He was virtually unstoppable while on the field, hauling in an impressive 28 passes for 507 yards and 3 touchdowns. Maryland’s wide receiver room certainly took a hit with his departure.
Over his 4 seasons with the Terps, Demus has provided consistency at the position. He’s totaled 1,775 yards and 13 touchdowns on 106 catches. Having him back for the 2022 season gives Maryland an outstanding weapon on the perimeter, as well as experience and leadership on the offensive side of the football.
Maryland had its ups and downs during the 2021 campaign, largely due to injuries throughout the course of the year. Still, Mike Locksley led the squad to a 6-6 record and an appearance in the Pinstripe Bowl, the first postseason berth since 2016.
The Terps will play Virginia Tech.
