Maryland destroyed Penn State on the football field today, and somehow it got worse on Twitter.

After the Terps’ 35-19 victory in Happy Valley on Saturday night, Maryland football’s official Twitter account didn’t hold back.

First, it was a mock up of CNN’s John King declaring that the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania had been won by the University of Maryland:

That’s a pretty timely troll job by the Terrapins social media team. But they weren’t done.

They followed that up with a classic pun joke of “Happy Valley”:

Also note the “You Were” and “We Are” text in the background of that image.

No mercy at all from Maryland, who moves to 2-1 on the season and hands Penn State its third straight loss of the season.

Taulia Tagovailoa was excellent again, completing 18-of-26 passes for 282 yards and three touchdowns. Rakim Jarrett was his top receiver, catching five balls for 144 yards and two scores.

Maryland will host Ohio State in Week 4, where it will be much tougher to pull off another major upset.
