Jaishawn Barham was down to 4 schools when he announced his commitment last Saturday: the hometown Maryland Terps, Penn State, South Carolina, and Oklahoma. The Baltimore St. Frances linebacker picked the Gamecocks.

But on Wednesday, head coach Mike Locksley pulled a day-of flip—something that’s becoming his specialty—and Barham signed with the Terps.

It’s a big win for Maryland. Not only because it keeps a local prospect with the hometown team, but because Barham is a top player in his class. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker ranks as the 3rd-best prospect in the state, the 8th-best linebacker in the class, and the No. 108 prospect overall, per the 247 Composite. Barham is a high 4-star.
