Stefon Diggs sent home from practice after upsetting Vikings coach Mike Zimmer
Teammates jawing at each other is something seen and heard at football practices at all levels. Former Maryland WR Stefon Diggs and Minnesota Vikings teammate Xavier Rhodes, however, appeared to have gone too far.
Diggs and Rhodes were both noticeably absent from Minnesota practice Wednesday after visibly jawing at each other during the morning walk-thrus.
“They did not make me happy,” Vikings coach Mike Zimmer told reporters.
Chad Graff speculated that the jawing was the result of a touchdown catch Diggs made Tuesday when Rhodes was covering him. Diggs apparently launched the football in celebration after making the grab.
Last month, Diggs signed a five-year extension worth $72 million to stay in Minnesota.
This all may have started yesterday when Diggs beat Rhodes for a long touchdown, then threw the ball into the stands in celebration, all clearly to the displeasure of Rhodes.
