Taulia Tagovailoa breaks Maryland single-season passing record with brilliant 1st half vs. Rutgers
It has been an up-and-down season for Maryland as they look to become bowl-eligible for the first time since 2016. Redshirt sophomore quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa is the brightest spot of Maryland’s 2021 season as he is on the verge of helping create a winning program with the team.
After a brilliant first half, Tagovailoa would become the program’s new record leader of passing yards in a single season with 3,528 yards.

Tagovailoa passed Scott Milanovich (3,499) for single-season passing yards set in 1993. Tagovailoa has currently passed for 303-of-442 completions for 3,528 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

In the first half against Rutgers, Tagovailoa threw for 16-of-22 completions for 245 yards and two touchdowns. He also accounted for a rushing score.
Maryland lead Rutgers 20-2 at halftime. Maryland looks to beat Rutgers for the first time since 2019 when they won 48-7.
