Temple players showing confidence ahead of rematch vs. Maryland
On Saturday, Maryland is traveling to take on a Temple team that beat them 35-14 a season ago.
Last year, Temple was 0-2 going into that game. Maryland was 2-0. The Terrapins were favored to win. Then, disaster happened.
This time around, No. 21 Maryland is once again 2-0 and favored, but Temple is 1-0. Will another upset take place?

Ahead of the rematch from a season ago, Temple players talked about the Terrapins and the opportunity they have to once again down a favored Maryland team.
Here’s Temple DL Quincy Roche:
“They’ve got something great going on right now, but we’re doing a great job too, so it should make for a competitive game. Last year they came out and beat Texas before they played us, so there is a similarity.”
Temple QB Anthony Russo:
“We’re super-exciting. Since I’ve been here, we’ve never had the play-makers on the outside like we do now. With a team like Maryland that’s going to play a ton of man coverage, we can’t ask for anything more.”
Temple DB Linwood Crump:
“We are matching up the same way [as last year], but this time they are coming in ranked, so it is a different aspect. … I like that they are 2-0, that they beat Syracuse.”
Temple seems to be confident going into this game. And, why shouldn’t it? The Owls beat the Terps by three touchdowns a season ago at Maryland. Now, at home, against a new head coach in Mike Locksley and a QB in Josh Jackson, have those changes made things significantly more different?
We’ll find out at noon on Saturday on CBSSN.
