On Monday, three-star running back Peny Boone announced his commitment to Maryland. He made his decision public with a Twitter announcement, simply saying “Committed to the University of Maryland.”

Boone becomes the 11th hard commit of the Terrapins’ 2020 recruiting class and is the top prospect to join currently. According to 247Sports, he’s listed as the 27th-best running back in the class. A native of Detroit, Michigan, he was one of the top 10 players from his home state.

Boone brings great versatility to the Terrapins class. Not only is he a skilled ball carrier, but he possesses excellent pass-catching skills, as well. He is the second big-time running back to commit over the last few days, as Maryland also received a pledge from Ebony Jackson, another three-star athlete on Saturday.

Jackson is a native of Marietta, Georgia and is listed as the No. 30 running back in the class. He’s one of the top 450 players overall in the class. Boone cracks the top 400.

Maryland now has the B1G’s eighth-best recruiting class in the 2020 cycle but sits at No. 31 nationally.
