Texas will be a little thinner at wide receiver when it battles Maryland in the season opener on Saturday.

The Longhorns announced on Thursday that wide receiver John Burt will not play in Week 1, due to a foot injury. Burt, a senior, caught 11 passes for 177 yards and a touchdown in 2017.

No. 23 Texas takes the trek to College Park to open the 2018 season after finishing last year with a 7-6 mark. The Longhorns and Terrapins battled in the season opener last season, with Maryland winning in a 51-41 shootout.

Burt had just one catch for six yards in that contest.

Saturday’s game between Texas and Maryland will start at noon ET.
