Maryland is looking good in the offseason, picking up two transfer commitments on Saturday.
The first came from Georgetown big man Qudus Wahab. A 6-foot-11 sophomore, Wahab brings experience and a dynamic inside presence to Maryland.
Entering Saturday afternoon, the Terrapins received even better news via the transfer portal. Daron “Fatts” Russell, a point guard out of Rhode Island, announced via his Instagram page that he is also joining Mark Turgeon’s Maryland squad.
Russell was viewed among the top transfer options in the portal this offseason:

Russell brings with him an excellent combination of experience and production. He played four seasons at Rhode Island, including three as a starter.
During his time with the Rams, Russell averaged 13.4 points per game to go with 2.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.8 steals. Russell scored a season-high 27 points in a loss to Duquesne.
With Wahab and Russell on board, the Terrapins are plugging two big holes entering the 2021-22 season. Expectations surrounding the Maryland program should continue to build throughout the offseason.
