Leading the Maryland program from 2001-10, Friedgen went 75-50 (43-37 ACC) as the Terps’ head man.

Winning the ACC Championship in his first year, he was twice named ACC Coach of the Year (2001, ’10). Inheriting a program that had played in a bowl game just once over the prior 15 years, Friedgen took Maryland to a bowl game in seven of his 10 years.

Unfortunately, Friedgen was let go following a 9-4 season in 2010 citing a “lack of fan support.” In the eight seasons since, his two full-time successors – Randy Edsall and D.J. Durkin – combined for just three bowl appearances.

The 2019 Terrapins, led by first-year head coach Mike Locksley, are 2-1. Before Saturday’s loss to Temple, the Terrapins were ranked No. 21 in the AP Poll.

Idle on Saturday, Maryland will have ample time to prepare for Sean Clifford and the Nittany Lions. Holding off the Pittsburgh Panthers, 17-10, on September 14, Penn State is also off on Saturday.
