In a somewhat shocking decision, the University of Maryland Board of Regents decided to reinstate head coach DJ Durkin after an independent committee concluded there wasn’t a toxic culture within the football program.
The decision comes four months after the death of Jordan McNair, who died from complications of heatstroke during an organized workout. Durkin had been on administrative leave since Aug. 11.
On Tuesday, board of regents chair James Brady spoke to media, saying the board recommended the reinstatement of Durkin as the program’s head coach. That decision, as you can imagine, was met with some very mixed reactions.
