It’s Week 2 of the NFL Preseason.

Players are fighting for not only starting roles, but backup roles and guaranteed contracts going forward in these games. To some, these games mean everything.

On Saturday night, the New England Patriots played the Tennessee Titans and on the second play of the game, former Maryland Terrapin DL Byron Cowart made his presence felt.

His presence was felt in a big way, too:

Cowart absolutely mauled the left guard on this passing play and then ate Titans QB Marcus Mariota for dinner. Some can point to preseason games and talk about how guys are going against backup players.

That certainly wasn’t the case on what was the second play of the game here.

Cowart, during his one season at Maryland, racked up 38 total tackles, 3 sacks and 2 INTs. He was a former No. 3 overall recruit coming out of high school according to 247Sports.
