Fans at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena might’ve thought they were experiencing an earthquake during Thursday’s first round matchup between Maryland and Belmont, but it was really just the aftershock of a vicious Jalen Smith dunk.
Late in the second half with the Terrapins owning a one-point lead, Smith came up with a huge and-one play, giving Maryland a 77-73 advantage with less than two minutes to play. It wasn’t just a big play on the scoreboard, it was one of the most ferocious dunks of the tournament.
Below is the video of Smith attacking the basket with absolutely no mercy.

That will be on plenty of highlight reels all evening.
Smith’s three-point play was enough to give Maryland a four-point lead and eventually lead to a victory over Belmont. The Terrapins defeated the Bruins 79-77 after a half-court heave was off the mark.
