Maryland fans will be savoring this win for quite a while.

The Terrapins opened the season by taking on No. 23 Texas on Saturday. Much of the hype and anticipation was focused on the Longhorns and head coach Tom Herman coming into the game.

Expectations may have been high for Texas coming into the game, but it was Maryland that stole the spotlight. The Terrapins used a variety of explosive plays to build a first-half lead. After waiting out a lengthy weather delay, Maryland’s defense was able to hold on late for the 34-29 upset to begin the season.

It was an especially sweet victory for fans and players alike as the team was also honoring fallen OL Jordan McNair. Following the big win, Maryland Football released an awesome recap video on Sunday.
