Sometimes targeting calls are up for discussion. Other times it’s a blatantly obvious call.

The hit that Maryland quarterback Kasim Hill suffered at the hands of Texas linebacker Gary Johnson falls into the latter category.

In the first half of Saturday’s game between No. 23 Texas and Maryland, Hill took a nasty hit while sliding to the ground, knocking the quarterback’s helmet clean off his head. He left the game with a bloody mouth.

The shot also cost Johnson the remainder of the season opener, as he was ejected for the targeting hit.

Below is a clip of the targeting hit.
