Michigan’s 2022 recruiting class got a little bit better late Tuesday night.

The Wolverines received a verbal pledge from 4-star linebacker Jimmy Rolder, a native of Chicago. He has received 11 offers during the recruiting process, picking Michigan over Florida, Illinois, Iowa, LSU, Minnesota, Ohio State, Purdue and Wisconsin at the Power 5 level. Ball State and Cincinnati also expressed interest in the talented prospect.

Rolder made his announcement with a post on social media Tuesday night. He became the 18th player in the 2022 recruiting class to verbally commit to Michigan.

“I’d like to announce that I will be committing to the University of Michigan to continue my academic and football career!” Rolder wrote on Twitter. “I want to give a thanks to every coach who has helped me along the way, and my family for being my biggest supporters and supporting me throughout this entire process.”

Per 247Sports Composite, Rolder is a 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker attending Marist High School. He’s ranked as the No. 35 linebacker in the class and No. 329 nationally.

247Sports recruiting analyst Allen Trieu says Rolder “physically has the size to play his style of ball at the Power 5 level. Big hitter who plays with aggressiveness and shows explosion through his tackles.”

With Rolder’s commitment, Michigan’s 2022 class now sits at No. 3 in the B1G and No. 16 nationally.
