Aidan Hutchinson discusses landing with Detroit Lions: 'I wanted them'
Long considered the top prospect in this year’s NFL Draft, Aidan Hutchinson watched as the Jacksonville Jaguars passed him over for the No. 1 pick. In the end, it’s a decision that works out just fine for Hutchinson.
When the draft kicked off Thursday night, the Jaguars went with Georgia’s Travon Walker with the No. 1 pick. That left Hutchinson available at No. 2 for the hometown Detroit Lions.
The Lions hardly needed any time at all before selecting Hutchinson with the pick. It was a decision that excited DC Aaron Glenn, saying he had been “pleading” with head coach Dan Campbell to land Hutchinson.
Shortly after the pick was made, Hutchinson discussed landing at Detroit. He admitted he was hoping the Lions would select him throughout the entire draft process. Now, Hutchinson gets the chance to begin his pro career in Michigan.
