After getting selected with 2nd overall pick by the Detroit Lions, former Michigan DE Aidan Hutchinson has signed his rookie contract per Kyle Meinke of Mlive.com. It will be a 4-year deal worth $35.7 million and will be fully guaranteed money according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport.

This beats the rookie deal that 2021 1st round draft pick Penei Sewell out of Oregon had. Sewell’s rookie contract was worth $24.1 million. Detroit has also gotten Jameson Williams to sign a rookie contract which will be worth $17.4 million. Williams was taken with the 12th overall pick in this year’s draft out of Alabama.

However, the largest rookie contract ever signed still goes to Sam Bradford with the St. Louis Rams. The deal, signed in 2010, was worth $78 million for the former Oklahoma Sooner and 2008 Heisman Winner. The amount of guaranteed money for that contract was $50 million.

Only time will tell if Hutchinson can live up to the price tag of his rookie contract.
