Alabama defender slams into Michigan WR's head, no targeting call or review ensued
The Citrus Bowl between Alabama and Michigan is over the halfway mark as the Crimson Tide lead the Wolverines 21-16 in the third quarter.
Early on in the third, Michigan ran a quick pass to the outside utilizing wide receiver Ronnie Bell. Bell was nearing the sideline before Alabama defensive back Josh Jobe was able to tackle him.

Realistically, it was more of a “launch at” rather than a tackle. Take a look:
Should this have been targeting on Alabama? ESPN broadcast indicated they were told it was “incidental contact.” pic.twitter.com/dDli1TgG2g

Was this not targeting? We’ve seen plenty of targeting calls go one way or another this bowl season. It’s a common problem in today’s world of college football.
The sport of football is a dangerous one. Player safety is a point of emphasis. And, that’s great.
But the way targeting is or is not being called at the moment is something that needs to be looked at over the offseason. We’d be surprised if nothing changes as the 2020 season approaches.
Here are some reactions to the no-call (or non-review, even):
The Alabama non called forgetting was way worse than the Ohio state targeting.

Was there just a non-call for targeting against #Alabama and then a no-call on catch/fumble for #Michigan? Such a joke. #MICHvsBAMA pic.twitter.com/H1mFEdkj1I

Blatant targeting, no call by officials or replay. @NCAA @NCAAFootball fixing another game and letting illegal hits go for Alabama, calling penalties on clean hits against Michigan

Targeting on Alabama, goes conveniently un-noticed. Pathetic.

@NCAA @CitrusBowl That was targeting. Next time stop showing alabama and the SEC favoritism especially when player safety is a "Primary Concern"
