Alex Orji has decided on his destination for the 2025 season. The former Michigan starter entered the portal on December 14 and announced his commitment to UNLV on Saturday.

“It felt like a great opportunity to go out to Vegas with Coach Mullen and Coach Dennis,” Orji said to ESPN. “It’s an opportunity to cultivate winning culture.”

Orji started 3 games for the Wolverines in 2024. However, the dual-threat QB did most of his damage as a runner, rushing for 269 yards and 1 touchdown. Orji threw for 150 yards with 3 TDs and 2 INTs on the season.

The Wolverines had an unstable QB room during the 2024 season. Orji, Davis Warren, and Jack Tuttle each took turns as the starting QB in 2024, with none inspiring much confidence. Orji decided to transfer after it became clear the QB was not a factor in the team’s long-term plans.

Before heading to Michigan, Orji was rated as a 3-star prospect and the 247Sports Composite ranking had the QB as the No. 30 QB and the No. 69 prospect out of Texas in the 2022 class. The dual-threat QB chose Michigan over offers from Baylor, Houston, Kansas, and Nebraska, among others.

Now, Orji will look to revive his college career in the desert with UNLV and new head coach Dan Mullen. The Rebels finished the 2024 season with a 11-3 record.
