No, Michigan hasn’t played top-tier teams just yet, but the Wolverines have looked very good so far in their early 2022 campaign. They might just be better than last years team that beat Ohio State and made a College Football Playoff appearance.

The reasoning? J.J. McCarthy, according to FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff hosts.

“The one thing I hated about Michigan is it seemed like our offense was alway horizontal from sideline to sideline and not down the field,” Charles Woodson said. “A guy like J.J. McCarthy is not afraid to put the ball in the air. It doesn’t matter if the receiver has someone on him or is guarded tightly. He will give his receivers down the field the chance to make a play on the football.”

Cade McNamara played well for the Wolverines last year, but he couldn’t go out and win them games like McCarthy has the potential to. McCarthy is much more dynamic of a player who can make plays with his arm and legs.

McCarthy and Michigan will get tested today in a matchup with Maryland, and we will truly get a feel of how much of a different offense this can be with McCarthy behind center.
