Blake Corum is off to a flying start to 2022 for Michigan. After limited action for Corum in blowout wins against lesser competition, the Wolverines have leaned on the running back throughout the start of B1G play.

Though he didn’t lead the team in rushing yards against Penn State, Corum once again eclipsed 150 yards rushing and was brilliant against the Nittany Lions. Corum has been so good, ESPN’s Greg McElroy addressed whether or not he can be the (recently) rare running back to take home the Heisman.

“Yes, I think the big thing now with Heisman consideration is you have to have big games against big-time opponents,” said McElroy on his Always College Football podcast. “I would argue if things go the way I think they’re gonna go, there will not be a game as hotly anticipated as Michigan-Ohio State.

“If he can go into the Horseshoe, rush for 200 en route to a big upset victory and follow it up the next week in the B1G Championship Game with another remarkable performance… then yeah, he could certainly find his way into Heisman consideration.”

Corum is already over 900 yards rushing with 13 rushing touchdowns through Michigan’s first 7 games of the season. We’ll see if he can keep up those numbers down the stretch of the B1G schedule.
