Blake Corum is being recognized for one of the best comebacks in college football in 2023. College Sports Communicators, in association with The Associated Press (AP) and the Fiesta Bowl Organization, named Corum as one of the 3 winners of the 2023 Comeback Player of the Year Award on Monday.

Corum had a spectacular 2022 season, but suffered a knee injury in the penultimate regular-season contest against Illinois. He tried to play in the regular-season finale against Ohio State, but was limited to just 2 carries.

After an offseason of recovery and rehabilitation, Corum was back in action for Week 1 of the 2023 campaign. He ended up starting all 13 games, recording 218 carries for 1,028 yards and a program-record 24 touchdowns.

Aside from the 2022 OSU game, Corum has scored 1 touchdown in each game he has played over the past 2 seasons. He is also the first U-M player since Denard Robinson to record back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons.

After completing a 3-peat as Big Ten champions, Corum and the Wolverines are back in the College Football Playoff. No. 1 Michigan faces No. 4 Alabama in the Rose Bowl, a New Year’s Day CFP semifinal clash.
