Blake Corum and the Michigan offense are alive and well after a disastrous start to the Rose Bowl!

On the very first play of the game, JJ McCarthy threw an ill-timed pass that was initially ruled an interception for Alabama. That play was overturned on review, but a muffed punt by Semaj Morgan led to Alabama’s first touchdown of the game.

Fortunately, the offense for Michigan looked much better on the second drive of the game. The Wolverines covered 75 yards on 10 plays and capped it off with a touchdown to Corum.

The score came on a rare receiving touchdown with Corum leaking out of the backfield and finding himself wide-open against the Crimson Tide defense. It goes down as the 3rd receiving touchdown of Corum’s record-setting career.

It is still extremely early, but that drive felt like a much-needed wake-up call for McCarthy and the rest of the offense. The quarterback delivered some key moments on the drive, including a 19-yard pickup into the red zone to Kalel Mullings.

Michigan found a way to get Alabama off-balance on that drive, and we’ll see if it lends some insight into Sherrone Moore’s playcalling moving forward.
