Booger McFarland calls Michigan's dominant national championship win an 'ass kicking in the trenches'
Booger McFarland called it basketball on grass against “Big Boy football” and in the end, the contrasting styles in the national championship on Monday in Houston proved Michigan was the more physical team.
The ESPN analyst pointed out that Michigan rushed for more than 300 yards, and the Wolverines proved in their 38 attempts that their style of play would prevail. Donovan Edwards and Blake Corum showed off another great 1-2 punch performance for the Wolverines as they each had a pair of touchdowns. Corum ran for 134 yards and scored both of his TDs in the 4th quarter. Corum But Michigan also got a pair of turnovers and overcame a 1-for-11 performance on 3rd and 4th down.
McFarland also reiterated that even though offenses have evolved in recent years, a great defense still beats a great offense, and defenses still win championships.
