Bowling Green coach Scott Loeffler is getting his Falcons team ready for a matchup against Michigan. Playing in Ann Arbor is not an easy task for any team, but it’s bound to be a bit tougher for the MAC program.

At his weekly press conference, Loeffler shared his impressions of Jim Harbaugh’s program and admitted the Wolverines look like a College Football Playoff team once again. Loeffler also praised Harbaugh and the staff for finding elite players and the Wolverines for playing the game the right way.

“We’ve watched all the Michigan film. They’re a Playoff team. Coach Harbaugh and his staff, I really believe, have done a wonderful job recruiting some of the best talent that I’ve seen at Michigan,” said Loeffler. “They’re super well-coached, they’re developed and, most importantly, they play the game the way it’s supposed to be played. They play with great effort and great technique. So we’ve got our hands full.”

Loeffler was also asked if there is a way for Bowling Green to challenge Michigan. The head coach admitted the Falcons will “to be creative” and acknowledged mismatch problems for his team.

During that discussion, Loeffler said there’s not a position on the field of weakness for the Wolverines:

“There’s not a position on the field that you see that has weakness. I think they’re way better than they were last year,” said Loeffler. “I think they’re physical. I think they run to the ball really well. They’re violent, super athletic. I think J.J. (McCarthy) is outstanding. The offensive line reminds me of the five that we had in 1999 that all went in the first round.”

As for Loeffler, fans of the Wolverines likely recognize the name as a former player and assistant for Michigan. He played for the Wolverines from 1993-96 and spent two stints on the coaching staff. His last stint in Ann Arbor came as the QBs coach on Lloyd Carr’s staff from 2002-07.

Loeffler assumed the head coaching job at Bowling Green in 2019. The Falcons are 14-30 overall but went 6-7 with a bowl appearance last season.
