Braiden McGregor not shying away from Aidan Hutchinson comparisons
Braiden McGregor and Aidan Hutchinson look very much alike. So much so, that people have mistaken McGregor for Hutchinson a time or two.
At first McGregor and Hutchinson tried to come up with a way to differentiate themselves apart from each other.
“We got to a point where it was like, ‘We’ve got to figure out some way where people can tell us apart,’” McGregor said. “I’m like: ‘I don’t understand it! I have tattoos; you don’t.’ … I remember one day he came in and he had the goatee, we both had short hair and we looked at each other like, ‘No. Something’s got to change.’”
Now that Hutchinson is gone, McGregor wants to be as good as the former Michigan edge rusher.
“Everything I’m trying to do is chase Aidan’s numbers,” he said. “That’s what Coach Herb says: ‘Aidan wouldn’t have done that. Aidan would’ve done this.’ It’s just whispering in your ear while you’re like, doing shrugs: ‘Aidan would have grabbed 180s, not 150s.’”
McGregor will have some big shoes to fill if the Michigan defensive end wants to be like Hutchinson. McGregor appeared in 14 games for the Wolverines last season with 17 total tackles, 5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks.
