Hillman, from Portsmouth, Virginia, is listed at 6-1, 191 pounds. On the 247Sports composite rankings, Hillman is rated 4-stars, the No. 5 Virginia product, No. 9 ATH and No. 214 prospect overall nationally in the 2023 recruiting class. ATH is used for multi-position prospects. Wolverines safeties coach Jay Harbaugh led Michigan’s recruitment of Hillman, indicating he’ll likely play in the secondary.
A week ago, Hillman announced that he was being released from the National Letter of Intent he signed with Notre Dame. Hillman cited personal reasons for not going through with an enrollment at Notre Dame.
With a release from his LOI, Hillman’s signing with Michigan will not be considered a transfer. Following his decommitment, he picked up offers from Michigan, Ohio State and Wisconsin.
