On Saturday, Michigan set a program record with 11 draft picks.

That mark bested any other school in the country, including Alabama, which had 10 draft picks.

So for whatever reason, current Florida State assistant and ex-Minnesota coach Tim Brewster decided to take a shot at that. The Seminoles did beat the Wolverines in the Orange Bowl, which meant that Brewster needed to remind everyone of the end result.

He took to Twitter to troll Michigan:

Not surprisingly, Florida State only had four draft picks.

But odd it was that Brewster decided to basically downgrade Florida State’s Orange Bowl victory by saying that Michigan wasn’t a winning team. It’s sort of along the lines of the “OVER-RATED” chant at sports games. Why lessen the accomplishment of the victory?

For what it’s worth, Michigan is 20-6 in two seasons under Harbaugh. No, the B1G Championships and New Year’s Six victories haven’t come yet, but the Wolverines certainly have done a lot of winning so far.

In fact, Florida State has the exact same record as Michigan during that stretch. FSU beat Michigan on a last-minute touchdown to accomplish that feat. And that was without two of Michigan’s All-Americans (Jabrill Peppers and Jake Butt), who were injured.

The last three national champs (Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State) totaled 51 draft picks for an average of 8.5 the last two years. So while having the most draft picks isn’t a prerequisite for a national title, it certainly helps.

Also, what kind of coach would want to advertise the fact that his team didn’t churn out as many NFL players?

Bizarre move all around.
