There has been some clarity when it comes to talking about the top team in the B1G midway through the season.

Michigan and Ohio State are the favorites. Those two teams are one and two. Nobody, at least not right now, is arguing against that fact. But which of those two teams is better? That’s been debatable throughout the year.

After the Buckeyes big win over Wisconsin on Saturday, Urban Meyer’s group now has a significant win on its resume. Would that be enough to form a consensus about the conference’s top team?

Not yet.

BTN analyst Robert Smith offered his thoughts on who the B1G’s top team was, and he’s sticking with the guys in winged helmets after Week 7:

Both teams sit at 6-0 and are 3-0 in B1G play. Ohio State has the edge in the latest AP Top 25 poll, but only by a spot. The Buckeyes are No. 2 and Michigan sits at No. 3.

Ohio State has another big test this week, playing Penn State in Happy Valley at night. Two years ago, the Nittany Lions nearly pulled off the upset against the eventual national champs. Michigan will host Illinois, a team that’s 2-4 on the year.
