Central Michigan has reportedly made a decision on its next head coach.
Sunday, Evan Petzold of CMLife.com reported that Jim McElwain and Central Michigan had come to an agreement, making McElwain the Chippewas’ next head coach. He takes over the program after serving as the wide receivers coach at the University of Michigan for one season.
The Chippewas are coming off a 1-11 season.

Reports last week said that McElwain was a strong candidate for the position, as Central Michigan hoped to bring in a big name. It certainly did so.
Prior to serving as the wide receivers coach at Michigan, McElwain was the head coach at Florida for two-and-a-half seasons, leading the Gators to two SEC title game appearances. Before that, McElwain was the head coach at Colorado State.
In his almost six seasons as head coach, McElwain has posted a 44-28 record and coached in three bowl games. He was the Mountain West Coach of the Year in 2014 and the SEC Coach of the Year in 2015.
An announcement is expected to come on Monday, according to Brett McMurphy of Stadium.
