Each Tuesday, the newest College Football Playoff rankings get revealed.

Last week, the Top 10 teams each won. That led to very little drama heading into this week’s rankings.

The drama-less rankings were just that — there wasn’t much excitement. The top 10 teams all remained the same from last week.

One question was asked to College Football Playoff chair Rob Mullens, though, and it was a good one for Big Ten fans to get an answer to. Specifically, Michigan fans will find this interesting:

Q: I’m kind of following up a little bit, but more specifically, why is Michigan ranked ahead of Georgia?
A: “Well, I mean, Michigan has a very strong resume. They’ve won nine games in a row. Only loss is to the No. 3 ranked team on the board in the first game of the year, and again, they’ve got wins over Northwestern at Northwestern, at Michigan State, and a dominant win over Penn State, the No. 1 defense in the country. Strong resume.”

Mullens didn’t talk about Georgia here in this question, but obviously, the committee thinks highly of Michigan’s resume. After all, Mullens said it twice that Michigan has a “strong resume.”

He points out the fact that not only is the Wolverines’ lone loss to the undefeated No. 3-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish, but that Michigan has impressive wins, too. As it stands, it seems as though Michigan is fairly snug at the No. 4 spot.

If Georgia were to defeat Alabama in the SEC Championship, though, Michigan may not have a stranglehold on that final spot any longer.
