Chase Winovich on MSU, OSU rivalries: 'I hate them both'
Chase Winovich hates them both. When it comes to rivalries with Michigan State and Ohio State, the Michigan defensive lineman has a burning desire to beat both teams.
On Wednesday, Winovich joined the Jamie and Stoney Show on 97.1 The Ticket ahead of the Wolverines’ top 25 clash with Wisconsin on Saturday. But the conversation shifted away from the Badgers and steered into rivalry chatter. The defensive lineman was asked which team he hated more, Michigan State or Ohio State.
Winovich provided the perfect response.
“I don’t like each one in different ways,” Winovich said. “Ohio State, I think we might have a better relationship with their players. Whereas Michigan State, I think there’s actual animosity between players. But I hate both of them.”

Think that will wind up on the bulletin boards in the Spartans’ and Buckeyes’ locker rooms?
Michigan hasn’t had much success against either team in the Jim Harbaugh era, posting a 1-5 combined record against the two teams. But the Wolverines defense has played at an elite level this year and the offense is finally clicking. This could be the year Michigan records a win over both rivals.
And wouldn’t that be special for the senior lineman? Though he’s recorded one win over Michigan State, he’s never defeated Ohio State. It would be the ultimate going-away present for Winovich.
Saturday, Michigan will take on No. 15 Wisconsin in a must-win matchup for both teams. The following weekend, the Wolverines will take on Michigan State in East Lansing.
Michigan will battle Ohio State in Columbus on Nov. 24.
