Chris Partridge firing reveals change in Michigan's approach to investigation, per reports
Michigan fired linebackers coach Chris Partridge on Friday, revealing what could be a change in Michigan’s approach to the sign-stealing investigation, per reports.
With Michigan agreeing to discipline — it accepted Jim Harbaugh’s 3-game suspension — and now its firing of Partridge, it could mean a change in how the university is viewing the investigation. Information gathered in NCAA interviews partially led to Michigan’s acceptance of Harbaugh’s punishment and Partridge’s firing today, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported.
Michigan appeared to take a more challenging approach at the end of last week, filing a temporary restraining order last Friday to try to fight off Harbaugh’s suspension at least for last Saturday’s game. On Thursday, Michigan decided it would accept Harbaugh’s punishment. The shift in its approach could mean the university is willing to take a more cooperative stance moving forward.
For now, Michigan will play its second of 3 games without Harbaugh. The Wolverines managed last week against Penn State, and now they will take on Maryland before closing out the season against Ohio State.
